Music and arts activities for arts and music lovers of all ages.

As part of a national effort Target is sponsoring a summer weekend of spectacular music from around the world in San Pedro at Peck Park. This outdoor event will feature nine amateur and professional music groups and a variety of art activities and food vendors for people of all ages to enjoy.

Master of Ceremonies, Geoff “Double G” Gallegos, musician and musical director of the daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra will be on stage to announce our talented guests. Saturday’s exciting line-up includes: the Taiko Center of Los Angeles, La Charanga Cubana, Spirit Chorale of Los Angeles, and Sacred Fire. It’s a day of powerful drums, danceable charanga and salsa, inspirational gospel plus an over-the-top tribute to Santana!

On Sunday, the Lyons Academy of Irish Dance will open the stage followed by two bands from the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor. Bonne Musique Zydeco and Nu Pan Groove Ensemble will perform throughout the day. The weekend closes with La Santa Cecilia, one of Los Angeles’ most in demand new bands, combining elements from Cumbia to Tango and more. It’s an afternoon of Irish dance, steel drum rhythms, high energy Cajun zydeco and Latin rhythms!

On both days, a Family Arts Tent will be an active center where artists from Angels Gate Cultural Center will lead a variety of projects for young people, ages 4-12. Children will be able to make puppets, straw whistles, sculptures, and weave baskets during this free event. Artists Robin Bott, Tim Donovan, Susan Rawcliffe, and Jayn Ghormley will lead these projects in the Family Arts Tent.

It’s an up-beat weekend of music and arts for all. Bring blankets, chairs and picnic lunches. Enjoy the free performances!
