Producers have announced the cast for the Los Angeles debut of Dr. Seuss’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! The Musical, playing at the Pantages Theatre for a limited engagement during the 2009 holiday season, November 10 through January 3. Leading the 24-member cast will be John Larroquette as Old Max and Stefán Karl as The Grinch.
Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” from the original animated series. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small”, decides to steal Christmas away from Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, while the Music and Book of Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason breathe new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas.
Five time Emmy winner John Larroquette is probably best known for his portrayal of Dan Fielding on the long running NBC sitcom, “Night Court”. Larroquette won four consecutive Emmys for that role. He won a fifth Emmy for his work on David E. Kelly’s drama “The Practice”. He also starred on NBC for four seasons in the critically acclaimed “The John Larroquette Show”, which was nominated for four Emmys including Best Actor. His numerous television credits include “Boston Legal”, “The West Wing”, “Law & Order”, “House”, “Chuck” and many others. Films include “Stripes”, “Richie Rich”, “Altered States”, “Second Sight”, “Choose Me”, “Madhouse” and “Blind Date”.
