12th Annual Pershing Square Ice Skating Rink Opens This Week
Budget cuts and a loss of a major sponsor hasn’t washed up the Pershing Square Ice Skating Rink which will return to downtown Los Angeles this week for the 12th year. Prices remain the same for skating and equipment rentals for an affordable winter wonderland outing for the whole family in sunny Southern California. The skating rink is the main attraction but as usual free music entertainment will also draw crowds for those who don’t want to glide on the ice. Live music will be performed weekday and Sunday afternoons and on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. Spaceland Productions will be back to bring free musical acts to Pershing Square. New this year is Mommy and Me Stroller Skating opportunities every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. from December 1, 2009- January 12, 2010, where moms on ice skates can push baby strollers on the ice for the hour.
And especially for families, the forecast on December 12 and 13 from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. calls for (artificial) snow and snow games at the Winter Holiday Festival. Arts and crafts, puppet shows and a cool model train exhibit will be on hand for a full day of fun!
