Since 1997, Monday Morning Concerts has placed professional, world-class musicians, dancers, and actors in an intimate educational setting with children, ages five through eleven. Monday Morning Concerts consist of a performance, a brief history lesson on the musical and cultural style being presented, and a question and answer session with the performers. Often children are invited on stage to be part of the experience.
June 14, 2010 – String Family Players
String Family Players delivers fascinating performances made memorable by great music. Breaking down the stereotype that classical music is inaccessible, the ensemble offers the audience an unforgettable experience as they connect with students through their music. This dynamic string quintet ensemble, led by director David Young, includes two violins, a viola, a cello and a double bass to create fun and memorable concerts.
June 21, 2010 – Twinkle Time
Twinkle Time is a fun fast pace, high-energy bilingual family musical.Twinkle and her friend’s set a fun foundation for growth that both children and their parents will enjoy. They will get our young audience members involved in everything from singing, to dancing, to understanding Twinkles’ upbeat messages.
June 28, 2010 – Tina Guo
Cellist Tina Guo has toured the world and appeared with top name artists on television, recordings and in concerts. Equally serious and devoted to both her classical and contemporary music, Tina hopes to open the hearts and ears of audiences of seemingly juxtaposing genres. She continues to balance the spiritual and technical eloquence of classical music in manipulating the music and emotion within a defined boundary playing both acoustically and electrically.
July 12, 2010 – The Wonderelles
Get ready to rock around the clock with THE WONDERELLES! a wholesome and high-energy 50s/60s revue that is a blast from the past. From “Johnny Angel” to “Mustang Sally,” from “Sugartime” to “Proud Mary,” THE WONDERELLES give you a touch of nostalgia that will leave you with a smile on your face and a song in your heart.
July 19, 2010 – Andy Rawn
Andy Rawn has a very beautiful dramatic voice in the tradition of Ezio Pinza, the most famous romantic basso of the 20th Century. Andy studied in Milan, Italy and in New York with Franco. Andy will use his baritone voice to sing songs from the American Song Book and talk about the history of that music.
July 26, 2010 – L.A. Pierce Symphonic Winds (Big Band)
Some of the members of the L.A. Pierce Symphonic Winds will gather this morning to demonstrate music from the Big Band Era. This seventeen piece ensemble consisting of trumpets, trombones, saxophones, piano, bass and drums will have plenty of swing music for all to enjoy.
Aug. 2, 2010 – Alex Nester
Alex Nester is UNIQUE…this very song from her new album describes this talented twenty-five-year-old songstress who is gifted beyond her years. Alex is doing was she was born to do: SING! But she doesn’t just sing…she writes, she creates, she communicates.
Aug. 9, 2010 – Wooley and Godwin
Wooden guitars and great songs…. The best musical magic always seems to happen in a living room with good friends, some wine, food and playing our favorite songs on a couple of beat-up acoustic guitars.
Aug. 16, 2010 – Kids of Rock Theatre
Kids of Rock Theatre practices about 10 hours a week and performs at various benefits. The group, Kids of Rock Theatre, is made up of students in a singing and dance workshop of the same name who will sing and dance to many pop songs of today.
Aug. 23, 2010 – Classical Blast
“Peter & The Wolf, A Classical blast of Mime and Music is an enchanting new program created and performed by internationally acclaimed mime artist, Sharon Diskin, and Juilliard trained classical pianist, Beth Sussman. This very unique entertainment combines the joys of classical music with the magic of mime to excite the imagination, fill the senses, and stimulate thought.
