During the summer weekend program ArtQuest!, Art Odyssey tours will whisk your family away on a journey through the ancient world, exploring trade and travel on the Mediterranean Sea. You’ll follow the quests of heroes through treacherous waters filled with monsters, or learn about the real challenges faced by ancient traders traveling in hand-made boats across often stormy seas. ArtQuest! is offered Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. from June 6 to September 6, 2009.

Get creative with your kids in Art Odyssey! This 45-minute gallery program for families combines a tour, an art lesson, and lots of family teamwork. También ofrecida en español.

A gallery teacher will lead you and a small group of other families in exploring a group of artworks. You might learn about mythical monsters; hear tales of the gods and goddesses of the ancient world; meet the mightiest of men, Hercules; or discover the daily lives of ancient Romans. Then you’ll use what you see as inspiration for fun hands-on activities.

After your Art Odyssey, your gallery teacher will suggest other family-friendly ways to explore the art on view, so that your and your family can have a great day at the Getty Villa.

Sign up at the Tour Meeting Place outside the Museum Store beginning 15 minutes before the start of the tour.
