The grand finale Wonder Mobile hike! Your instructor will come with an amazing collection of animal and plant artifacts AND LIVE ANIMALS!  This is a great, safe and exciting opportunity to learn all about the differences and similarities between mammal, reptile, avian, insect and arthropods. The one hour exploration will be followed by a one hour hike with snack and storytime. TOT walks offer your child the opportunity to learn from their own exciting experiences, providing a bedrock of information in the best possible classroom, our beautiful parks.  In addition to the specially tailored hike lessons and take home activity ideas, vocabulary lists will provide your little one with the opportunity to grow their verbal skills with every walk.

Children will learn about local flora and fauna while practicing early language, math and science skills. Each week will focus on a different theme. The workshops are designed to nurture children’s innate curiosity about nature and give parents a chance to bond with their children in peaceful, natural settings. Reservations required.

Each workshop is held on a particular day of the week and is two hours long. The same series of themes will be presented at different locations so that you may attend the one nearest you. The workshops will vary a little by location because of the different natural features at each park. Each series of four classes brings a new theme and a nature badge to collect on graduation day!

DIRECTIONS TO FRANKLIN CANYON PARK:

From Valley: Take 101 to Coldwater Cyn exit heading south. Coldwater eventually snakes up into the mountains and at the top is a stop light with a sign for Treepeople on the left. At this light, make a soft right (not a sharp right) onto Franklin Cyn Dr (sign says “road ends 800 feet” at park entrance). See Parking directions below. **From LA: Head north on Beverly Dr. After you cross Sunset, when Beverly curves sharply right, turn left to stay on Beverly. At the first stop light, bear right onto Coldwater Cyn Dr. A ways after Coldwater and Mulholland merge, look for the stop light where Coldwater and Mulholland split again (there¹s a Treepeople sign on the right). There, make a hard left onto Franklin Cyn Dr (sign says “road ends 800 feet” at park entrance). **Parking: Continue past the houses on Franklin Cyn Dr, through park gate, then turn left before a big brown sign for “William O. Douglas Outdoor Classroom” to park in the big dirt lot.
